RONDO Magazine (Susanne Benda): Normally CDs like this end with me shortly after their arrival on a disordered shelf with the pretty title “plucked all sorts” that breathes the aura of dusty oblivion. But already when listening to the first part of what the guitarist Johannes Tonio Kreusch improvises here under the heading “Inspiracion” as the frame of his Spanish-South American guitar recital, the decision matured in me to incorporate this record under the name of their interpreter of my collection.
This recording has character, it has something peculiar and very special. And this despite the fact that it is basically only working towards the mainstream. But Kreusch plays even Rodrigo’s “Invocacion y Danza”, even Brouwer’s “Elogio de la danza” so eminently clean and so swinging and dream-lost that even those who have often heard are spontaneously forfeited. The music breathes, it sings and sounds – and one would like to do what a critic otherwise never does: to hear it all over again at the end.

Inspiración
is a very personal album. This CD combines music that has accompanied me for a long time, inspired me and inspired me for the guitar. There are many meanings in the Spanish word Inspiracion: inhalation, inspiration, inhalation, enthusiasm, inspiration,…
The works of Barrios-Mangoré, Térrega, Albéniz, Rodrigo and Brouwer, which can be heard on this CD, have already inspired and inspired many guitar lovers to re-engage with the guitar. Each of these composers has (directly or indirectly) contributed an important part to the further development of guitar technique, showed new playing possibilities, instilled a new spirit in the guitar. They are all deeply inspired by the six swinging strings of the Spanish guitar – the folk instrument of their homeland. This multi-coloured and resonant world of Spain and Latin America forms the basis for the compositions to be heard here, is inspiration and inspiration for their creators.
This album is also dedicated to one of the great voices of this Spanish-speaking world: the poet, singer and guitarist Atahualpa Yupanqui inspired me for the guitar. Through his music, one breathes the spirit of the Latin American world and is taken on journeys through the vastness of the pampas.
As a kind of inhalation, improvisations usually form the beginning of my concerts. This not only allows me to explore the sound possibilities of the concert hall in all its subtlety, but also to establish a very personal connection to the audience. This sound inhalation and the immediate sound search wants to be a connecting act of the play and the listener – prelude and inspiration in preparation for the following concert.
In the prelude to the CD “Preludio” and in the aftermath “Conclusio” I use elements from my suite “Siddhartha” for solo guitar. Inspiracion – Preludio and Conclusio – is intended to form the framework in which the images that the composers gathered here have imagined may move.
